Westward Ho

We left Mason City after checking out the Music Man site. The writer, Meredith Wilson, lived here and the movie was filmed here.







Then on to Minnesota, where we saw the Jolly Green Giant statue.













Then we drove due west until we arrived in South Dakota. I have to say, this is beautiful country. We were pleasantly surprised. Beautiful rolling green hills. And LOTS of wind turbines. Very impressive.

We decided to stop for the day at Murdo, SD. The town is pretty pathetic, but we were tired AND they have a "world famous car museum" - as we saw on a million billboards. I do love a car museum!! (Thanks, Pop!)

We checked into a hotel and went to check it out . . .
















We headed out to grab some dinner at "the best place in town" according to the woman at the hotel front desk. Welllll, quite the dive! But good burgers and fries!
